Camp-Ins

Perfect for school, scouting, homeschool, youth, and church groups. Plan it as a "bonding" trip, an end-of-the-year celebration, or just for fun! Whether in the museum or on the submarine, it's guaranteed to be a camping experience that's warm, safe, and dry any time of year!

Engineering 3-D: A Museum Camp-In

Dream! Design! Discover! Join us for an exciting night of problem solving and design challenges. Dream up a Rube Goldberg device. Design a dragon boat that is both fierce-looking and fast-moving. Discover the best building material for an earthquake-proof structure. Successfully complete these challenges (and more!), and earn a patch to wear as a badge of honor. Activities are aligned with state content standards for science and provide plenty of opportunity for team building and problem solving. Every effort will be made to separate elementary (grades 3-5) and middle school (grades 7-8) students, but groups may be combined to meet minimum enrollment requirements. Grade 6 students may camp with either group.

Museum Camp-Ins include dinner, snack, and continental breakfast; planetarium show; OMNIMAX movie; submarine tour; museum admission the following day.

Submarine Camp-In

OMSI's USS Blueback, a retired U.S. Navy submarine, is open for sleepovers! Learn about sonar, navigation, buoyancy, and propulsion systems; peer through the periscope; explore the torpedo room; and sleep in the crewís quarters. Elementary recruits (grades 3-5) carry out a top-secret mission aboard the USS Blueback. Middle and high school recruits (grades 7-12) learn in-depth, behind-the-scenes submarine operations. Grade 6 may join either group.

Submarine Camp-Ins include snack and continental breakfast; planetarium show; museum admission the following day.
